The biggest gift of this IT revolution and technical advancement to the world is Smartphones. A Six-inch gadget and our whole life revolve around it. You could hardly find someone who says he or she doesn’t know how to operate a smartphone. Every task, from talking to acquiring information, communication, business etc. requires smartphones. Our life is so much dependent on smartphone that we can’t even think of a day without it. But isn’t that what addiction is?
People tend to use mobiles more often than we can imagine. As per study, people use phones more than 47 times per day. This is a huge number and clear signs of addiction. So many things, Social media, videos, apps etc. that bares us from leaving smartphones.

·         Overexposure to information and data e.g. games, surfing, apps.
·         Shopping, gambling, stock trading, and auctions.

With the rapid increase in the number of smartphone users, more and more people are prone to Nomophobia or smartphone addiction. According to studies, around 85% people use ,mobile within 1 hour of waking up in the morning.



Smartphone companies in order to increase customer base are providing so many features and that to at such lucrative price such that you could easily find a range of mobiles under 12000 or such budget offering so many features that the price would hardly bother anyone.
The result of such use of smartphones could be disastrous for our health and social life.

·         Anxiety – Simply having your phone near you will decrease your productivity, the impact snowballs with the level of the users’ addiction.
·         Stress – Higher stress levels were found in business orientated roles where work life is connected to the personal device e.g. emails

Other than that excess smartphone usage could reduce your social life and, in some instances, can lead to depression as well. It is better that people start taking this as a serious problem and bring a change in their lifestyle or else we all would just be slaves to technology and nothing more.
